Server
The Server settings allow administrators to configure how AskSenseOps listens for network connections, manage HTTPS settings, and create or restore deployment backups.
To access these settings, sign in to AskSenseOps using an administrator account, open Admin, and select Server under System.
The page contains two tabs: Listener & HTTPS and Backup & restore.
Listener & HTTPS
Use the Listener & HTTPS tab to configure the server's network binding and HTTPS settings. Saving these settings updates the server's .env configuration and restarts the server.
Listener Configuration
Configure the following fields to specify the network interface and port used by the server.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Host | Select the network interface on which the server listens. The displayed default is 0.0.0.0, which represents all network interfaces. |
| Port | Specify the port used by the server. The displayed default is 3010. |
HTTPS Configuration
The HTTPS section allows the server to handle TLS directly using a certificate or to operate behind a reverse proxy that handles TLS.
Enable Secure (HTTPS) to configure HTTPS directly on the server.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Certificate (.pfx) | Upload the .pfx certificate file required for HTTPS. This field is required when HTTPS is enabled. |
| Certificate password | Enter the password for the certificate. If an existing password is unchanged, leave the field as it is. Enter a new value to replace it. |
| Send full chain | Enable this option when the server needs to send the full certificate chain. |
The certificate password is encrypted at rest and is not displayed again on the settings page.
If a reverse proxy in front of AskSenseOps handles TLS, HTTPS can be left disabled on the application server, as indicated in the interface.
Testing and Saving Server Settings
After configuring the listener and HTTPS options:
- Select Test Connection to test the configured connection.
- Review the configuration and correct any issues identified by the test.
- Select Save & Restart to save the settings and restart the server.
Ensure the server can be reached using the configured host, port, and HTTPS settings after the restart.
Backup & Restore
The Backup & restore tab provides options to create an encrypted backup of an AskSenseOps deployment and restore a deployment from an existing backup file.
The backup includes the database, saved dashboards, synced metadata, certificates, proxy settings, and the server's configuration files.
Creating a Backup
Use the Create backup section to generate an encrypted backup file.
- Open the Backup & restore tab.
- Enter a passphrase in the Passphrase field. The minimum length is eight characters.
- Enter the same passphrase in Confirm passphrase.
- Select Create backup.
Keep the generated backup file and its passphrase secure. The file contains credentials held by the server, and the passphrase is never stored. If the passphrase is lost, the backup cannot be opened.
Restoring a Backup
The Restore from backup section allows you to replace the current deployment with the contents of a backup file.
Important: Restoring a backup discards the information currently stored in the deployment. Restart the service once the restoration has finished.
To restore a backup:
- Locate the Restore from backup section.
- Select Choose File under Backup file and select the backup file.
- Enter the passphrase used when the backup was created.
- Select Restore.
- After the restoration finishes, restart the service as instructed.
Make sure the selected file is the intended backup and that you have the correct passphrase before proceeding.
